We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager for Europe to join an internationally operating technical project organisation in the steel industry. In this key commercial role, you will identify and develop new business opportunities, maintain strategic client relationships and secure contracts for complex technologies and technical services.
You will be the primary commercial point of contact for an assigned group of European clients and will manage sales processes from the initial market approach through to the quotation, negotiations and contract award. Working alongside multidisciplinary tender teams, engineers and technology specialists, you will develop technically and commercially robust solutions that deliver demonstrable value to clients.
An international, independent and enterprising sales role for a professional who can effectively combine technical expertise, relationship management and complex project sales.
What will you do?
- Identify, qualify and nurture prospects to turn them into concrete business opportunities with European clients;
- Leading multidisciplinary tender teams in the preparation of high-quality technical and commercial tenders;
- Coordinate budgets, commercial terms and tendering activities with clients and internal stakeholders;
- Conducting commercial and technical contract negotiations that lead to successful project awards;
- Building and maintaining long-term relationships with customers, partners and other stakeholders within the sector;
- Actively positioning existing and new products, technologies and services in the European market;
- Monitor market developments, competitors’ activities and clients’ investment plans, and translate these into commercial opportunities;
- Contributing to annual sales planning, forecasts and strategic business development initiatives;
- To represent the organisation at professional conferences, trade fairs and networking events across Europe.
What do you bring?
- Approximately 5 to 7 years’ experience in a similar commercial role within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, plant construction or a capital-intensive industry;
- A completed bachelor’s degree or an equivalent level of work experience and intellectual ability;
- Experience with technical and commercial sales processes and complex contract negotiations;
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn market information into concrete business opportunities;
- A proven ability to work effectively with different cultures and in international business environments;
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills in English;
- Proficiency in Dutch, German or another European language is a definite advantage;
- Willingness to travel frequently, approximately 50% of the time within Europe and occasionally beyond;
- Resident within the European Union.
