Vacancy

MT member Policy Advice, Strategy, Research and Support (Sr. Marine Ecologist)

The Producer Organisation of Dutch Mussel Culture (PO Mosselcultuur) in Yerseke is a trade association of Dutch mussel farmers operating on the Oosterschelde and Wadden Sea. With 89 companies/members and a fleet of 55 vessels, they produce high-quality mussels.

The organisation is active in advocacy and service provision on behalf of its member growers. To this end, there is frequent contact with relevant authorities at regional and (inter)national level. Services are provided through the Dutch Mussel Auction, carrying out research itself, purchasing and supervising scientific research and initiating and supervising licence applications. To this end, there is frequent and intensive contact with supporters, beautiful family businesses, hard workers and a 'no-nonsense' culture.

This is truly a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity, such a vacancy does not come up that often. It is a great combination of looking after the interests of mussel farmers, both in the short and long term, supervising research and acting as (co-)representative of the industry towards (semi-)governments.

To this end, it is essential to contribute to the continuity of mussel farming in the Netherlands on the basis of an overall picture of the integral interests of the mussel sector and all relevant scientific information and knowledge of socio-political relations. The guiding principle is to work towards an ecologically and economically sustainable sector. 'From the sea to society'.
