The division Damen Shiprepair & Conversion (DSC) has a global network of repair and conversion yards. From complex conversions to complete dismantlements: DSC is an expert in adapting ships to the requirements of today and tomorrow.

The Role

Are you a lawyer with an HBO or WO background in (international) contract law? Do you want to immerse yourself in complex, international ship repair and conversion projects? Then this role as Contract Manager Legal within Damen Shiprepair & Conversion might be your next career step.

As Contract Manager Legal:

• Support legal and project teams on legal and contractual issues;
• Make an active contribution in large and complex projects during the implementation phase;
• Implement contract management procedures in line with Damen policy;
• Be responsible for all contractual administration throughout the project.

You will be part of DSC's legal team and report to the Head of Legal of Damen Shiprepair & Conversion Holding B.V. You will work with the wider legal network within Damen Group (legal counsels, compliance officers, risk managers, etc.).

Your Responsibilities

• Analyse and identify legal/contractual risks;
• Drafting contract terms in English to support commercial offers;
• Advising colleagues within commerce, procurement and project management;
• Preparation of all necessary contract documentation for project execution;
• Participate in the development and implementation of standard contracts and legal procedures;
• Identify risks during projects and contribute to maximising Damen's returns.

Your profile

• Completed legal education (HBO or WO), with specialisation in contract law;
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the maritime sector;
• Experience with BIMCO Repaircon and Conversioncon contract forms;
• Experience with contracts under English law or other common law jurisdictions;
• Excellent command of the English language;
• Strong negotiation and set-up skills;
• Proactive and solution-oriented working attitude;
• Flexible regarding travel within the Netherlands (visiting Damen shipyards).
