Project Director(s) Shipbuilding

As Project Director you have full project responsibility, in projects set as lump sum/ fixed price execution. You are involved from the beginning of the project, working closely with the product managers from the tendering phase to the engineering, supply chain and building the ship in a yard (ETO: Engineering to Order).
We belief that as Project Director you should be where the action is, which means you move with the project abroad, together with the project team.
You make the project completion the priority, working with the overall Damen interests in mind and considering client wishes.
You are excellent in managing stakeholders, both internally and externally, in culturally diverse environment.
A project team typically covers a group of 5-20 direct members and indirectly approx. 200 people in the total project, depending on the size of the project. You are responsible to drive a project with a value that can vary ( >100 – 250 mio). You report to the Director Operations. A project board is in place too.

Tasks & Responsibilities
• Co-assesses commercial leads and being involved in tendering.
• Set and monitors the realization of agreed planning, budget and all other targets, with a strong safety mindset. Safeguards meeting all requirements, ensuring timely interventions
• Formulates and advice the project execution strategy, taking into account contract management, supply chain, (local) governance, including risk management.
• Sets and/or formulates project scope, planning, budget, time, HSSEQ requirements and internal guidelines
• Builds project teams. Delegates responsibilities, realizing strong relations.
• Manages recourses on project level.
• Steers, motivates employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Functions as the main liaison between client and Damen throughout whole ship building process. Including liaison with area sales management.

What about you?

• At least higher vocational or academic level of thinking
• 10-15 years of project management experience regarding in a relevant setting (shipbuilding, oil & gas construction, large capital goods realization)
• Proven qualities on execution of large complex projects, with technical character.
• Ability to oversee and manage a large variety of aspects and issues, regardless the nature (financial, contract management, legal, HSSEQ, operational progress, commercial, people management)
• Excellent stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
• Has both a strategic view and a practical mentality
• Deals well with ambiguity, considering context of Damen organization
• Actively looking for entrepreneurial opportunities
• Takes ownership and ensures accountability
• Good command of the English language
